Creative Announces the AXX200, the Latest Addition to the Sound BlasterAxx Family

Late last year, we reviewed Creative's new Sound BlasterAxx family of wireless speakers. They were fun, quirky and functional, and we found them to offer impressive audio performance, especially the pint-size SBX 8.

This year, Creative is following up with the new AXX 200. Like its predecessors, the AXX 200 features Creative's multi-core Sound BlasterAxx SB-Axx1 chip, which digitally processes and enhances sound in real time. However, new to the AXX 200 is NFC connectivity, allowing it to easily pair with NFC-enabled devices such as smartphones and tablets. Also new is the built-in microSD card reader which allows the AXX 200 to quickly play media content.

Other new and unusual features for the AXX 200 is Super Megaphone, which amplifies a user's voice on-the-fly and can also be used to add sound effects. Additionally, since the AXX 200 is a portable speaker, the built-in 5200 mAh lithium-ion, which is good for 15 hours of playback, can also be used as a battery pack to charge other devices.

The Creative AXX 200 will be made available worldwide at a later date and has a recommended retail price of US$299.99. However, it is now available in the United States at creative.com and is being offered at special price of US$149.99 for a limited time.
