Canon unveiled seven new addition to their PIXMA inkjet printer series, including two printers with a new touch system interface.

The PIXMA MG6170 and MG8170 AIO (All-In-One) inkjet printers feature capacitive touch-sensitive panels which light up in response to touch and switch off when dormant, leaving the surface of the printers flat and mostly free of physical buttons.

Besides what Canon calls the Intelligent Touch System, the new printers also offer HD Movie Printing which lets you print single frames from video shot with Canon digital compacts and DSLRs using the bundled software. A Flickr Integration Photo Print feature lets you search for images from Flickr within the app and print directly through your printer (during the demo it was shown that you can search for specific licenses to avoid copyright conflicts).

Release of the new models is expected in end September, while prices are to be announced.

The PIXMA MG8170 is Canon's newest flagship inkjet AIO for the home and office.

New Canon PIXMA Black Series

Besides the two touch-system printers, Canon also revealed five new PIXMA Black series inkjet printers, a new design direction for home and office printing with black housing instead of the traditional white and gray. The new PIXMA Black series consists of four AIOs- the PIXMA MG5270, MG5170, MP497 and MP287 - and one single-function photo printer the PIXMA iP4870. All the new printers sport the new full-HD Movie Print and Flickr online photo printing functions.

The PIXMA MP497 is now available at $229, the PIXMA MG5270, MG5170, MP287 and iP4870 will be available from end September.

Canon's Slimmest Scanner Range

Two new additions to the CanoScan LiDE scanner range were also introduced, the CanoScan LiDE 210 and LiDE 110. The LiDE 210 features a CIS element with 4800 x 4800 dots per inch optical scan resolution, while the LiDE 110 features optical scan resolutions of up to 2400 x 4800 dpi.

Both scanners will be available from mid-October, with prices to be announced.
