Biostar has officially launched Hi-Fi Z97WE, the company’s mid-range ATX motherboard based on the new Intel Z97 chipset. Besides supporting Biostar’s Puro Hi-Fi audio technology, the board has support for the latest Intel “Haswell Refresh” LGA1150 desktop processors.
The board was first unveiled in late April, and now, we can see from its official specifications that it is actually a mid-range offering from Biostar. For a start, it doesn’t support SATA Express; however, it does sport a PCIe M.2 slot that can accommodate long format M.2-based SSDs.
The board has a 10-phase power delivery system to the CPU, and has four DIMM slots that support overclocked DDR3 memory modules, up to 2800MHz. In terms of network connectivity, the Hi-Fi Z97WE has a pair of Gigabit LAN ports, courtesy of its Realtek RTL8111G controller, which supports teaming function. This will allow both ports to be combined into a single one "to support multiple aggregation modes" for potentially higher network bandwidth.
