ASUS Unveils World's First Three-In-One Device, the Transformer Book Trio

At its press event at Computex 2013, one of the new exciting and innovative products unveiled by ASUS is the Transformer Book Trio. With claims to be the world's first three-in-one mobile device, the Transformer Book Trio can switch to function as a Windows 8 notebook, and its 11.6-inch screen can be detached to function as tablet operating on Android Jelly Bean. Last of all, its PC Station dock with the tablet display detached, can be hooked up to an external display for use as a Windows 8 desktop.

The Transformer Book Trio switches easily from being a Windows 8 device to an Android-based tablet with a quick press of a special button on the keyboard. Another way to toggle between operating systems is to detach the tablet screen from the PC Station dock. The Android-based tablet is powered by an Intel Atom processor with up to 64GB of storage from an embedded Multi-Media Controller (eMMC).

In terms of I/O ports, there is a pair of USB 3.0 ports; one on each side of the keyboard. For video connectivity, there is a HDMI and a mini-DisplayPort.

The Transformer Book Trio has a HDMI and mini-DisplayPort as video connectivity options. It also has a pair of USB 3.0 ports; one on each side of the keyboard.

With the tablet screen removed, the PC Dock station is able to be paired with an external display for use as a Windows 8 desktop PC as the station dock features an Intel Core i7 'Haswell' processor and a 750GB HDD. According to an ASUS spokesperson, the PC Dock station is able to support Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) technology, in addition to its support for HDMI and mini-DisplayPort options. Last of all, the PC Dock station also functions as an external charger to the Android tablet.
