AMD Launches Radeon R9 280 Graphics Card for US$279
AMD has officially launched the Radeon R9 280 graphics card that was conspicuously missing from the R9 lineup. The Radeon R9 and R7 graphics cards were first announced in November last year. The Radeon R9 280 is viewed as a replacement for the existing Tahiti Pro-based Radeon HD 7950.
The Radeon R9 280 appears to be based on the same Tahiti Pro GPU as the incumbent Radeon HD 7950. According to AMD, the competing GPU from the NVIDIA camp would be the GeForce GTX 760. The new AMD card is slated for wider availability later this month, with a launch price of US$279. The specifications of the card are as follows:-
