AMD and BlueStacks Announces New “Android on Windows” Software Optimized for AMD APUs

AMD and BlueStacks have announced the new “Android on Windows” software that is optimized for Windows devices, powered by select AMD APUs. This new software solution is slated for launch later this year, with a suggested retail price of US$39.95. We first got wind of their plans in CES this year.

According to BlueStacks, the entire Google Android Jelly Bean experience can be transferred to the Windows PC with this software solution. In addition, users can straddle the ecosystems offered by both Windows and Android operating systems, as supported Android applications are able to leverage on the graphics processing power of the APU. These Android apps are also able to access the Windows file system, and support devices of the Windows PC like its built-in cameras, accelerometer and gyroscope.
