While good lighting has been scientifically proven to ease eye strain, achieving eye comfort while staring at a monitor is more of an art.

To combine the science and art of comfortable viewing, BenQ has launched the ScreenBar Halo 2.

This is a monitor light accessory designed to provide the user with the most optimal lighting while staring at a screen for extended periods. It doesn’t matter if you're a professional creative or someone on their 200th episode of a drama marathon in 4K resolution, because the monitor light shines upon all.

The ScreenBar Halo 2 features controllable front and rear illumination to help reduce eye strain, and it’s calibrated to ANSI standards for minimising visual fatigue (3:1 ratio for display and ambient light).

Front illumination is handled by its asymmetrical lighting design, which has an 18° angle that reduces display glare and prevents direct light from entering the eyes.

Rear illumination is achieved through its triple-curvature design, which extends the area of coverage by 400% (when compared to its predecessor) and reduces the stark contrast between a dim room and the monitor itself.

BenQ has also redesigned the monitor light’s mounting system, as the ScreenBar Halo 2 can now accommodate ultra-thin or curved monitors, in addition to conventional ones. The brand stated that its mounting is based on BenQ’s existing gravity-based mechanism and features a zinc-alloy clamp for a secure fit.

Also revamped its the monitor light’s wireless control knob. According to BenQ, it is now easier to adjust brightness (0 to 100%), colour temperature (2,700K to 6,500K), and it comes with an anti-fingerprint coating. This is in addition to features like auto-dimming, auto on/off, and custom lighting profiles for various viewing routines.

Together, this monitor light offers the granularity needed by creative professionals, the quick controls desired by gamers, and is suitable for just about anyone who spends long hours staring at a display attentively, such as finance workers, designers, video editors, and the like.
