Apple announced an M2 Mac mini service program for units that cannot power on.

According to Apple, a tiny percentage of Mac mini (M2) are unable to power on. The affected M2 Mac mini devices were manufactured between 16 June 2024 to 23 November 2024.

The company has provided a Serial Number checker on its support page for affected users to determine if their M2 Mac mini is eligible for this service program. If it is, the Mac mini will be repaired for free.

Note that the service program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the device. It only covers eligible devices for three years after the first retail sale of the unit.

The M2 Mac mini was announced on 17 January 2023 and hit retail shelves on 30 January. It was succeeded by the smaller redesigned M4 Mac mini in October 2024.
