Demand for Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Air said to be much lower than anticipated

What? No one wants a thin, light, and powerful notebook with a 15-inch display?

The 15-inch MacBook Air was announced at WWDC 2023 in June and has been available for a while now.

Interestingly, while reviews have been almost unanimous in their praise for its blend of performance and portability, a report is claiming that demand for Apple's latest is far lower than expected.

Citing sources with Apple's supply chain, it says that the shipment volume of the new 15-inch MacBook Air has been 50% less than expected. And that as a result of this, some Apple suppliers have requested for production to be scaled back.

Apple hasn't said much about shipments of the 15-inch MacBook Air but we might know more when it announces its third-quarter earnings next week.

If the report is true, then it would appear that the fate of the MacBook Air is the complete opposite of the iPhone. Sales of iPhones rocketed when Apple finally relented and announced the larger iPhone 6 Plus back in 2014.
