Patriot's Gauntlet Node Offers DIY Portable Wireless Storage Media Solution

Patriot's Gauntlet Node is one new option for the latter choice.

We’ve seen two mass market solutions from Kingston and Seagate just last month and it looks like Patriot is the next storage player joining that rank with their Gauntlet Node. Kingston’s version was based on flash memory in a slimmer form factor whereas Seagate offered its edition with the same form factor as its portable external hard drives and in fact using a 500GB HDD.

Popping open its top cover, we see the SATA power and data connector to accept a 2.5-inch SSD or HDD of your choice.
Patriot leaves the drive type and capacity requirements to you, but you do get the same basic functionality expected of a portable wireless storage media drive - down to apps made to work with this on Android and iOS devices. It even works with the Kindle Fire. Because the drive choice is left to your discretion, this storage media earns itself the “DIY” moniker. It accept 2.5-inch SSD or HDD units up to 2TB in capacity.
The Patriot Gauntlet Node supports Wireless 802.11b/g/n standards and is able to simultaneously work with 8 mobile devices streaming media (performance will vary according to media types played). Its estimated suggested retail price is currently mentioned to be about US$70.
As expected, the Patriot Gauntlet is hand-sized.
