OCZ has just announced a new entry-level SSD, the Trion 150.

Designed to be the successor to the earlier Trion 100 SSD, the new Trion 150 SSD packs Toshiba's own in-house controller and 15nm TLC NAND into a 2.5-inch form factor.

It uses the SATA 6Gbps interface and sequential read and write speeds are claimed to be 550MB/s and 520MB/s respectively for the 240GB version. Maximum random read and write performance for the 240GB drive is also pretty decent at 90,000 IOPS read and 43,000 IOPS write.

But perhaps what's most enticing to users is that the Trion 150 will be offered with a 3-year OCZ ShieldPlus warranty.

ShieldPlus is a new warranty program that aims to reduce the hassle of replacing a faulty drive. Instead of having the user bring the faulty drive down to a service center, OCZ mails out a replacement drive first, thereby cutting down the time the user would be left without a drive. And the best thing is that ShieldPlus was recently introduced in Singapore

Local pricing details are still unknown at this point, but the OCZ Trion 150 should be priced very attractively. We will update this story once we get pricing information.
