The Fixstars SSD-13000M is a 13TB SSD

Forget about 1TB or 2TB SSDs. In just a few weeks, there'll be a 13TB SSD you can buy.

It's safe to say that unless you're well off, the majority of us will never have an SSD this size any time soon.

You can never have too much storage. 1TB used to be such a big number, even a few years back, but nowadays, it's barely noteworthy. Most gaming notebooks already come packed with a standard HDD that size. Still, 1TB is a big deal, if you're looking at it from an SSD perspective. 1TB SSDs are still moderately expensive and while prices are set to come down, we've still a bit more to go before that happens. Right now, 1TB SSDs are only for those who are willing to spend.

Fixstars is clearly targeting those high rollers (or companies with a big budget) with its SSD-13000M 13TB SSD. When you absolutely need to have a ton of SSD storage, this is what you should get. Well, this is the only SSD in that capacity anyways as the SSD-13000M is the world's largest capacity SSD at the moment.

If 13TB is a tad excessive, Fixstars also announced a smaller, 10TB SSD, which they called the Fixstars SSD-10000M.

Here are the specs for the SSD and the smaller 10TB Fixstars SSD-10000M.

Both of the new SSDs use SATA III, have a read speed of up to 580MB/s and a write speed of up to 520MB/s. While consumers with deep pockets can of course buy the SSDs, Fixstars actually envisions the SSDs being used in enterprises as a way to stream high resolution content, for sharing high quality visual effects or computer graphics, 4K and 8K video rendering and other uses where steady sequential access is needed.

If you'd like to order either SSD, you can do so by filling up an order form at Fixstars' page.

There's no price yet for the 10TB SSD, but reports say that Fixstars will be selling the SSD-13000M at around US$13,000, when it ships sometime next month.
