This SSD is built for peace of mind, because it can self-destruct on command

A SSD designed for users with very sensitive data.

There are regular SSDs, and there’s the TeamGroup P250Q SSD. The P250Q is unique because it comes with a very special feature—it can destroy all its data at the click of a mouse.

The P250Q offers a dual-mode data destruction feature. One option is a conventional software wipe, similar to what’s used in industrial or military applications. The other, more extreme option, is hardware-triggered and voltage-based – physically damaging the NAND storage cells with a deliberate voltage surge, rendering any stored data permanently unreadable.

It’s the sort of feature that makes sense for security-first deployments with very sensitive data—where data falling into the wrong hands simply isn’t an option.

TeamGroup’s Mission Impossible-ish demo even showed off a puff of “smoke” when this feature was triggered. See the video below.

The company also says this feature is patented in the US. In terms of specs, the P250Q is rated for up to 7,000MB/s sequential reads and 5,500MB/s writes, making it in line with most high-end PCIe Gen 4.0 drives currently on the market. It’s also engineered to handle more hostile operating environments, with thermal tolerances up to 105 degrees Celsius.
