Harman Kardon takes the Omni speaker to the next level
The speaker company updates their Omni series of speakers with three new wireless speakers, a new wireless sound bar, and a wireless audio adapter.
Harman Kardon’s Omni speakers have just been refreshed, and a big part of that refresh is a boost in processing power. The speakers now have new 800Mhz processors to better handle streaming demands.
The refreshed line-up now consists of three speakers – the Omni 10+, Omni 20+, and the Omni 50+. These have largely the same design as the previous Omni speakers, though the Omni 50+ is the largest Omni speaker ever produced, measuring 333mm x 175mm x 215mm.
This is also the only speaker of the three to come with an internal rechargeable battery; good for up to five hours of playback. Because it’s also IPX5-rated splash proof, you easily can move the music from indoors to out, without having to worry about the weather.
All three speakers are capable of producing 24bit/192kHz HD audio, with Dual band Wi-Fi capabilities as well as Bluetooth support for easy streaming. Thanks to support for the wider 802.11ac 5GHz network, activating multiple speakers for multi-room audio is almost instantaneous, and each speaker has a physical “Link” button to allow you to do just that. One press, and the speakers will automatically pair up and start playing the same track in perfect sync.
Also new, is the Omni Bar+ sound bar. This supports full 5.1 sound wirelessly, so all you’ll need is to pair it with another two Omni speakers (of the same model) to get a multi-channel home theatre. This of course also supports 24bit/192kHz HD audio, and has Dual band Wi-Fi too.
There’s also the Adapt+, which converts any speaker into a wireless multi-room one. This of course supports 24bit/192kHz HD audio streaming, and offers Bluetooth, optical and 3.5mm inputs so you can easily connect it to a multitude of audio sources.
Finally, the redesigned Harman Kardon app allows you to easily tap into hundreds of streaming services – thanks to support for Google Cast for Audio. It also makes it easier to set up your multi-room system, whether it’s grouping speakers to play together as a 5.1 system, or to get all speakers in your home to play the same music together.
The Omni 10+ retails for S$359 while the Omni 20+, and the Omni 50+ will go for S$499 and S$699 respectively. The Omni Bar retails for S$1,299, and the Adapt+ is going for S$399. All four of the Omni plus speakers and the Adapt+ will be available in Singapore by the end of April at all authorized Harman Kardon retailers.
