Netgear’s newest Wi-Fi 7 device is the Nighthawk RS700S. The company has made Wi-Fi 7 devices before, but those were mesh networking systems. The Nighthawk RS700S is its first Wi-Fi 7 router.

If you don’t already know, Wi-Fi 7 is going to be the next big thing in networking. It has technologies like multi-link operation (MLO) and wider 320MHz channels to boost throughout and support more devices. To learn more about Wi-Fi 7, read our guide.

The Nighthawk RS700S is a tri-band router capable of a total data transfer rate of a whopping 19Gbps. It broadcasts a single 2.4GHz network, a single 5GHz network, and a 6GHz network. The data transfer rates of these networks are as follows:

  • 2.4GHz - 1,400Mbps
  • 5GHz- 5,800Mbps
  • 6GHz- 11,500Mbps

Yes, these are impressive figures and suggest tremendously fast networking speeds. However, you can only achieve them if you have a compatible Wi-Fi 7 device. Coincidentally, Apple's newest iPhone 16 series phones support Wi-Fi 7.

Netgear claims it can provide up to 3,500 sq. ft. of coverage and can support up to 200 concurrent devices.

In terms of wired connectivity, you have a single 10Gbps WAN port, one 10Gbps LAN port, and four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. It supports link aggregation, which lets you combine two Gigabit LAN ports to form a 2Gbps LAN connection to a compatible device. It also has a USB 3.0 port.
