ASUS has a new Wi-Fi 7 router. It’s called the TUF Gaming BE9400, and it’s a tri-band router with a maximum data transfer rate of 9,400 Mbps.

It broadcasts a single 2.4GHz network, a single 5GHz network, and a 6GHz network. Here are their maximum data transfer rates:

  • 2.4GHz - 688Mbps
  • 5GHz - 2,882Mbps
  • 6GHz - 5764Mbps

In terms of ports, the TUF Gaming BE9400 has a single 2.5G WAN port and three 2.5G WAN ports. Though it’s a step up from your standard single Gigabit ports, it does mean it won’t take full advantage if you have a 3Gbps, 5Gbps, or 10Gbps plan. So that’s something to take note of. Still, having 2.5G WAN and LAN ports does mean better wired performance.

It also has a one USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB-A port that can be connected to printers and storage devices for print and file-sharing.

Gamers will be happy to know that the TUF Gaming BE9400 has features that claim to improve gaming performance. To start, it has a dedicated Gaming Port that prioritises all traffic to help reduce latency. It also has an Open NAT feature that makes port forwarding easy.

Gaming features aside, the TUF Gaming BE9400 also supports ASUS’ AiMesh technology, which means it can combine with other compatible ASUS routers to form a mesh network.

Ultimately, the most compelling thing about the TUF Gaming BE9400 is its price. At S$329, it’s attractively priced given its specifications and features. To give some context, the ASUS RT-BE88U is S$629 and though it’s also a Wi-Fi 7 router, it only broadcasts two bands. However, it counters by having a 10G ports. So the thing you probably want to consider is how badly do you need 10G ports?
