Note: This year, our gift suggestion series is proudly supported by ASUS and their ROG team. Thank you ASUS!
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501 is a perfect example of what it means to have the best of both worlds. It's equipped with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, 24GB of DDR4-2400 RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, yet it measures just 17.9mm at its thickest point and weighs a mere 2.25kg.
That's possible thanks to NVIDIA's Max-Q technology, which optimizes for performance, power consumption, and noise to enable manufacturers to cram high-end hardware into a slim and light chassis.
The ROG Zephyrus GX501 also sports a rather nifty cooling solution, and the bottom of the notebook opens up like a trapdoor when the lid is up. This facilitates greater airflow, and it's how ASUS keeps it running cool. The keyboard also sits right at the edge of the notebook, freeing up the entire top half to serve as an additional air intake.
On top of that, you get a 120Hz display with support for NVIDIA G-Sync, so you’ll be able to take advantage of every frame that the GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q can provide. ASUS has also thrown in a USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port, which opens up the option for a 4K display at 120Hz.
The laptop will cost you S$4,898, and you can take a closer look at it in our picture gallery here.
