Intel and Microsoft have teamed up with the world’s top three PC manufacturers, namely Dell, HP, and Lenovo, to roll out an integrated marketing campaign that aims to make consumers aware of the advanced capabilities of the latest personal computer. With the availability of the 6th generation Intel Core CPUs and Windows 10 operating system, it’s only natural that this cross-vendor, integrated campaign is spearheaded by Intel and Microsoft. The campaign has been aptly named “PC Does What?” The six-week campaign, which will begin on 19 October in the United States and China, will highlight the innovative features of PCs from Dell, HP and Lenovo. The campaign will run across traditional media like TV and print, and not forgetting popular social media platforms.

The campaign focuses on four key points about the new user experience on the latest PCs:-

  • Leave the power cord behind – the latest PCs offer true wireless flexibility with battery power that lets you work uninterrupted for hours on end;
  • Immerse yourself in the game – with higher resolution, better details and faster frame rates, these new PCs deliver amazing gaming experiences with up to 30 times better graphics versus a 5-year-old system
  • Smile and log in – no need to remember a password when you can log in to the PC with your face using facial recognition
  • Don’t waste time waiting – get tablet-like responsiveness in the latest 2 in 1 PCs that power on instantly with the touch of a button.

As observed by Re/code, PC advertising campaigns are typically driven by Intel and Microsoft, and they “work individually” with each PC manufacturer. This time round, they appear to be making a collective attempt to address the decline in PC sales. According to the latest IDC forecast, PC shipments will continue to decline through 2016.
