Those “older” readers amongst us will no doubt remember when the Sony Vaio was one of the best-looking laptops on the market. This lasted until 2014 when Sony decided to sell off its PC business. In fact, it was recently sold again just last year to Japanese electronics retailer Nojima.
We covered some of the new laptops that came from the rebranded entity with the new devices being called “Vaio” laptops, and we liked them.
But now, the Vaio brand is making a return to Singapore with two new models (with the same specs) targeting both consumers and business users.
The Vaio SX14-R for consumers and Vaio Pro PK-R for business users both have a 1.08kg carbon fibre chassis and are powered by up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H Processor, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. It has a 14-inch WUXGA display with a 16:10 aspect ratio that uses Intel Arc Graphics.
Note that the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H uses the Meteor Lake architecture launched in December 2023 (as opposed to the latest Arrow Lake processors). The H moniker refers to an Intel processor designed for high performance, where users require the most processing power for demanding tasks like gaming and content creation. Both the SX14-R and Pro PK-R aren't Copilot+ enabled and have no AI capabilities beyond the noise-cancelling function used to ensure clear communication during virtual meetings.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A (USB 3.0) ports, and one HDMI 2.1 port.
For battery life, you get 14 hours of video playback when working on an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor-powered device.

Customers can experience and purchase the Vaio SX14-R at Best Denki stores in VivoCity and Ngee Ann City now, and at the Funan store in March, with prices starting from S$2,949 (for an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H Processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage). The company says the business-focused Vaio Pro PK-R is available through its list of authorised resellers.
