TSMC is expected to use its second-generation 3nm process to manufacture Apple's next-generation chips for the Mac and iPhone.
Sources familiar with the matter told Nikkei Asia that Apple's next M3 and A17 chips will be built on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process. Known as N3E, it will deliver better performance and higher power efficiency compared to the first-generation 3nm process (N3). Some of Apple's upcoming iPad chips are likely to use N3.
