Pegatron rumored to be making Apple's ARM-based MacBook

Pegatron is said to be the likely candidate to receive orders from Apple to manufacture its ARM-based MacBooks.

Days after 9to5Mac revealed some details on Apple's upcoming ARM-based, touchscreen hybrid computer with LTE, DigiTimes followed up with a report that Pegatron is likely to be the manufacturer of the device.

Its sources also said that the device has the codename Star with the series number N84. 9to5Mac speculated that the device could see a combination of iOS chips and macOS hardware. The 12-inch MacBook should be the prime candidate for the ARM Mac transition.

Apple is reportedly pushing ahead with its plans to use its own custom ARM-based chips for Mac. Bloomberg reported last month that Macs running the custom chips could arrive as early as 2020.
