Acer has announced an updated version of its Swift 5 laptop, which comes with a slick new design and super thin bezels.
The new Swift 5 was designed with a focus on performance and portability, but the best part is that Acer has replaced the 14-inch display on the previous model with a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen IPS panel.
The bezels on the Swift 5 measure just 5.87mm thick, and Acer says the Swift 5 boasts an 87.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The laptop also weighs less than 1kg, which is pretty impressive for a 15.6-inch laptop and even lighter than the LG Gram 15.
Its light weight is possible thanks to its magnesium-lithium alloy construction on the top and bottom covers, but Acer says it also used magnesium-aluminum alloys in the palm rest area for some extra rigidity.
Specs-wise, the Swift 5 can be configured with the latest 8th-generation Intel Core processors, up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB SSD.
It also comes with one USB 3.1 (Gen 2) Type-C port, two USB 3.1 (Gen 1) Type-A ports, an HDMI port, and an SD card reader. In addition, it will support Windows Hello through a fingerprint reader.
I’ll update once there’s news on local price and availability.
