When it comes to our laptops these days, durability is no longer a luxury – it’s a necessity.
Be it at the office, at home or on overseas work trips, a powerful yet hardy laptop that can keep up with the rigours and demands of our modern lifestyles is a godsend.
But how can users gauge the reliability of a laptop? They might consider factors such as build quality and rigidity of the chassis, or a brand’s reputation for making sturdy devices. However, one of the best ways to evaluate a laptop model is through third-party certification. This is why ASUS puts its Zenbook laptops through the most rigorous and comprehensive US military-grade testing* in an independent laboratory.
Robust, military-grade reliability on the outside
To accurately mimic the wear and tear of day-to-day handling, ASUS Zenbook laptops are subjected to a full suite of 12 test methods and 26 test procedures under the enhanced military-grade MIL-STD-810H standards. In this way, ASUS goes above and beyond its competitors by adopting the strictest and most extensive test regime in the consumer laptop industry to ensure top-notch reliability and durability.
These tests simulate shocks from road travel or when carried around, vibrations from wheeled transportation, altitude changes and exposure to extreme temperatures.

They go beyond typical user scenarios, replicating harsh conditions like freeze-thaw cycles (30°C/-10°C), sand and dust exposure, and even enduring mechanical vibration for hours.

Apart from intense military-grade tests, ASUS puts its laptops through an extensive array of in-house tests. They include validating keyboard durability, hinge endurance of up to 20,000 open-and-close cycles, lid and bottom chassis pressure test of up to 25kg of force, and port durability test of 5,000 test cycles to guarantee the longevity of I/O ports.

To ensure that ASUS laptops can withstand minor mishaps without significant internal or external damage, they undergo rigorous drop-and-shock tests. Additional shock, drop, vibration and bump tests simulate the impacts of everyday accidents, such as desk bumps of transportation jostles.
Whether for a busy professional seeking ultimate reliability, or a student who wants maximum longevity from their laptop, these tests provide users greater assurance that their ASUS consumer laptop is both durable and dependable.
Powerful, high-performance software on the inside
In addition to its military-grade standards, the slim Zenbook laptops masterfully blend lightweight portability and performance.
Most models in the Zenbook family, including its latest edition – the 1.4kg Zenbook 15 – come with an OLED display with Pantone Validated colour rendering for rich, vivid images to enhance any kind of content. Its flicker-free technology is certified by TÜV Rheinland Eye Care for a comfortable visual experience, while an ultrafast 0.2ms response time delivers smooth blur-free animation.

It also features AI noise-cancelling technology, which uses a neural network algorithm to identify and filter noise for clear speech, and ASUS Wi-Fi Master. Wi-Fi Master is an ASUS-exclusive technology that optimises Wi-Fi range and performance for even faster and more reliable Wi-Fi performance, allowing smoother streaming downloads at greater distances than before.
With rich features and durable construction, these laptops are designed to keep up with your busy lifestyle, making them an ideal companion for work, travel, and everything in between.
Going beyond the build
With its international warranty and exceptional service, ASUS is committed to providing trustworthy devices that protect your investment and data – and ensure uninterrupted use.
Should the worst happen, ASUS stands behind its products with up to two years of international warranty (in 82 countries), inclusive of premium pick-up and return service.
For models with OLED displays, ASUS offers a 1-on-1 OLED screen swap if burn-in happens despite ASUS OLED Care burn-in prevention, to give users complete peace of mind.

*Based on ASUS internal market research using available information and testing reports from main laptop brand websites on Oct 28, 2022, ASUS consumer laptops use a regime consisting of 26 test procedures, which is the consumer laptop industry’s strictest and most extensive test regime for the MIL-STD-810H standard.
