Less than a day after releasing an emergency patch for Windows, Microsoft has now releases updates for its Surface devices to help them defend against the Meltdown and Spectre processor exploits.
Microsoft is providing UEFI updates for these devices:
- Surface Pro 3
- Surface Pro 4
- Surface Book
- Surface Studio
- Surface Pro Model 1796
- Surface Laptop
- Surface Pro with LTE Advanced
- Surface Book 2
To get the updates, your device needs to be running Windows 10 Creators Update (OS version 15063) and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (OS version 16299). You can get the updates either through Windows Update or by visiting the Microsoft Download Center.
Due to the differences between Surface Hub and Windows 10 Enterprise, Microsoft believes that the exploits wouldn’t affect the Surface Hub device. That said, the company will continue to monitor the situation and develop mitigations when the need arises.
