Microsoft just announced its latest Surface device, the Surface Laptop 4.
Unlike the Surface Laptop 3 which has an exclusive 15-inch model with AMD Ryzen 3000-series mobile processors, Microsoft is now offering the choice of AMD or Intel processors across the Surface Laptop 4 lineup.
If you opt for AMD processors, Microsoft is offering the option of Ryzen 4680U mobile processor (6 cores) for the 13.5-inch model, and the Ryzen 4980U mobile processor (8 cores) for the 15-inch model.
For the Intel chipsets, you get the option of 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 or i7-1185G7 for the 13.5-inch model, and the i7-1185G7 for the 15-inch model.
Battery life is stated to be better on the AMD models; the 13.5-inch AMD model gets up to 19 hours and the 15-inch AMD model delivers up to 17.5 hours. On the other hand, the 13.5-inch and 15-inch Intel models have a battery life of up to 17 hours and 16.5 hours respectively.

Other specs include removable SSD options of 256GB/512GB, 1 x USB-C port, 1 x USB-A port, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1 x Surface Connect port, a front-facing 720p HD f/2.0 Windows Hello camera, dual far-field Studio Mics, and omnisonic speakers with Dolby Atmos.
Local pricing and availability are not known at the time of publication, but the Surface Laptop 4 is now available to order in the U.S, Canada and Japan with prices starting from US$999.99.
