Since the retail availability of the Surface Laptop 3 last year, Microsoft has been receving reports from users about cracks appearing on the screen for no reason. It has since investigated these claims and may have found a potential fault.
In a support document on its website, Microsoft shared that a hard foreign particle may cause a hairline fracture in the glass that may seem to appear unexpectedly or without visible cause in a very small percentage of cases.
Microsoft recommends users to contact its Support team if they believe their Surface Laptop 3 devices are having this issue. It will initiate a repair free of charge during the warranty period of the device. Users who have previously paid for a repair that was caused by this issue can contact Microsoft Support for reimbursement.
