M2 chip production paused for two months due to lower demand for Mac

Apple reportedly paused M2 chip production for two months due to lower demand for the Mac.

M2 chip production was reportedly paused for two months according to TheElec.

Apple is said to have "completely halted production" of the M2 chips from January to February as demand for the M2-powered MacBook was lower than it had expected. While some production has resumed in March, TheElec says it is only half the level of previous years.

The M2 and its variants can be found in the MacBook Air (2022), the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. During the recent Q1 earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared Mac revenue dropped significantly in the final quarter of 2022 and cited "a challenging macroeconomic environment and foreign exchange headwinds" as one of the few factors.
