New LG gram notebooks to come optimised for performance or AI

The four new LG gram models to be launched at CES 2025 will come powered by either an Intel Core Ultra H-Series (Arrow Lake) or the Intel Core Ultra V-Series (Lunar Lake) processor.

LG says that the difference between the two is that the H Series processors are designed to maximise traditional PC performance, while the V Series CPUs are optimised for AI.

What this means for performance is that the Arrow Lake-powered gram laptops will have more computing power and improvement in graphics processing, compared to 2024 gram models, and prioritise core PC functionality. The Lunar Lake-powered models come equipped with Microsoft's "Copilot+" PC functionality, offering productivity- and creativity-boosting AI features such as real-time video subtitle translation and AI image generation.

The four models

All new gram laptops support gram Link 2.0, an upgraded version of the gram Link feature first introduced last year. gram Link 2.0 enables seamless device connectivity across operating systems, allowing users to share content and transfer files across a range of PCs and mobile devices, including iOS and Android-based smartphones. Users can also answer incoming phone calls directly on their gram laptops, minimising workflow interruptions.

LG says that its LG gram Pro (model 17Z90TR), is a device that represents the “best of performance and portability”. With a slim and lightweight formfactor powered by an Arrow Lake CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card to enable the 17-inch display to handle resource-intensive graphic design and 3D-rendering work to video editing and running the latest AAA games.

Somewhat confusingly, there is another model titled the LG gram Pro. But this LG gram Pro (model 16Z90TS) is the first Copilot+ PC in the gram series. At 1.25cm thick and weighing only 1.2kg, it is one of the lightest models in the LG gram Pro lineup.

There is also a 2-in-1 model, the LG gram Pro 2-in-1 (model 16T90TP). Powered by an Arrow Lake processor, you get a choice of either an OLED or LCD display. It also has a wirelessly chargeable stylus pen to scribble and write with. There are some compromises though. For example, it lacks Thunderbolt 4 connectivity and it has Intel Xe graphics as opposed to Intel Arc graphics. 

Currently specific only to the U.S market, LG is introducing the LG gram Book (model 15U50T), an entry-level model that LG says comes with the “features and benefits of the gram series at a more accessible price”. The gram Book has a 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) display, expandable storage options, and a 720p HD webcam with privacy shutter.

We don’t have either the pricing or availability details of the new LG gram devices. But we will update this article when we have more information.
