Lenovo's finally putting Intel's latest Whiskey Lake processors in its ThinkPad laptops. The company is updating its ThinkPad L-series notebooks with two new models targeted at business users on a budget.
The ThinkPad L390 and L390 Yoga are clamshell and convertible notebooks respectively. They are the first ThinkPads to come with the Whiskey Lake chips and will support up to a Core i7 processor and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. You'll also be able to equip them with up to a 512GB PCIe SSD.
The differences in form factor aside, the two notebooks are quite similar in terms of specifications. They both feature a 13.3-inch IPS 1,920 x 1,080-pixel touchscreen display and the same selection of ports, including two USB 3.1 (Gen 1) Type-C, two USB 3.1 (Gen 2) Type-A, one HDMI 1.4 output, a microSD card slot, and a mini RJ-45 jack.

They're also both MIL-SPEC tested, so you know they're reasonably hardy and durable. In addition, you'll get a fingerprint reader and a depth camera that will work with Windows Hello.
The L390 Yoga has the same hinge-mounted, "world-facing" camera as the L380 Yoga before it, and a nook, or garage as Lenovo likes to call it, to store the Lenovo Active Pen that it comes bundled with.
The ThinkPad L390 starts at US$659, while the L390 Yoga is slightly pricier at US$889. I'll update once there's news of local pricing.
