Lenovo has announced a slew of new 2-in-1 devices at IFA 2017. In addition to the Yoga 920, Lenovo also revealed the Miix 520 and Yoga 720, both of which are slightly more affordable than the flagship Yoga 920.

Lenovo is clearly setting up the Miix 520 to be a Surface Pro competitor, much like the Miix 510 before it.

The Miix series started out with the low-powered Intel Core M processors, but the latest iteration comes with a quad-core Intel 8th-generation Core i7 processor and generous memory and storage configurations.

Here’s an overview of the highest supported specifications:

  • 12.2-inch 1,920 x 1,200-pixel IPS touchscreen display
  • 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor
  • 16GB of DDR4 RAM
  • 1TB PCIe SSD
  • 300 x 205 x 15.9mm (with keyboard)
  • 1.26kg

The Miix 520 features a one-piece aluminum alloy body, and the flip-out stand interfaces with the main body using Lenovo’s signature watchband hinge, which comprises 256 individual pieces.

There’s a decent selection of I/O connectors as well, including one USB-C port, one USB 3.0 Type-A port, an SD card reader, and a SIM card slot for the LTE model.

Like the Yoga 920, the Miix 520 also comes with far-field microphones that can pick up voice commands for Cortana from up to four meters away. Lenovo thinks this will help you get things done even when you’re not in front of the PC, and you’ll be able to do things like create new calendar entries.

The Miix 520 can also be paired with Lenovo’s Active Pen 2, which supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity.

Another interesting feature is the optional WorldView camera, which can capture 3D images for editing or 3D printing. In addition, the bundled MagicWindow app lets you overlay 3D images on top of regular 2D ones.

Lenovo is claiming up to 7.5 hours of battery life on its 39Wh battery.

The Miix 520 will be available either Platinum or Iron Gray, and will ship together with the detachable keyboard.

The Yoga 720 follows the style of the Yoga 920 with a 360-degree hinge that lets you use it in a variety of modes. However, it lacks the fancy watchband hinge and features a slightly smaller screen and a lower FHD resolution.

It also only comes with the older dual-core 7th-generation Intel processors, but you’ll be able to configure it with up to 12GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SATA SSD.

This is Lenovo’s first 12.5-inch Yoga PC, and its strongest point is its compact size and portability. It will also work with Lenovo's Active Pen for things like sketching and notetaking.

The Miix 520 starts at US$999, while the Yoga 720 is cheaper at US$649. We'll update when we have news on local price and availability.
