Intel launches 5th Generation Intel Core processors and new Xeon product family

Intel announced a slew of new 14nm 'Broadwell' processors at Computex 2015 today, all featuring Intel's latest and most powerful Iris Pro graphics.

At Computex 2015 today, Intel unveiled its latest 5th generation Intel Core processor family. Part of their 14nm ‘Broadwell’ line of products, Intel will be releasing a total of 10 desktop and mobile processors featuring Intel Iris Pro grpahics. It will also be the first time that Intel is making its Intel Iris Pro graphics available for an Intel desktop in the LGA form factor.

The flagship desktop processor will be the Intel Core i7-5775C which the company says will deliver up to 35 percent better media performance and over 2x graphics performance as compared to previous 4th generation Intel Core i7-4790S with Intel HD graphics 4600. The improvements in graphics is credited to the new Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 which is currently the company’s most powerful client processor graphics and media engine. The five 665W TDP desktop SKUs comes in various base frequencies, threads and L3 cache sizes as shown in the table below.

Besides that, Intel also introduced five new 47W mobile processors for gamers and high performance laptops. The flagship in the mobile line-up is the Intel Core i7-5950HQ processor that promises to deliver up to 95 percent better media performance and up to 2x 3D graphics performance as compared to the current generation 15W TDP 5th generation Intel Core i7-5600U mobile processor.

For the server and workstation segments, Intel introduced the Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 v4 product family that features an integrated Intel Iris Pro graphics P6300. Based on the 14nm technology, the new processor will be Intel’s most powerful data center graphics solution, delivering 1.4x more performance for video transcoding and up to 1.8x more 3D graphics performance as compared to prior generation.

Built for companies delivering video transcoding solutions to support real-time, multi-stream delivery of high definition videos, the Intel Xeon E3-1200 v4 family is capable of up to 4,300 simultaneous HD video streams per server rack. Price and specifications of the new E3-1200 v4 family are shown in the table below.
