Hyper has just announced a new USB-C to HDMI adapter for users who demand the highest video performance.
Meet the new HyperDrive USB-C 8K 60Hz / 4K 144Hz HDMI Adapter (HD-H8K).
The name tells you just about all you need to know. This is a USB-C adapter that enables 8K 60Hz and 4K 144Hz video on HDMI displays. It supports the latest HDMI 2.1 standard.
The adapter has an aluminium enclosure and comes with a silicone thermal cover to help the adapter dissipate heat.
This adapter isn't a magic bullet though and support for the above-mentioned high-resolution modes is still dependent on your system.

So while the adapter will work with Macs, Apple machines are still limited to a maximum resolution of 4K and at 60Hz.
And according to Hyper, for Windows desktops, you'll still need a beefy GPU (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 upwards or AMD Radeon RX 6000 series).
As for Windows notebooks, you'll need either one with Intel Evo certification or one with Intel's new 11th-generation Tiger Lake processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics.
Availability and pricing
The HyperDrive USB-C 8K 60Hz / 4K 144Hz HDMI Adapter is priced at US$49.99 (~S$67) and it's available now from the Hyper online store. You can also look out for it on the Hyper Flagship on Lazada.
