Huawei has announced the launch of its MateBook D 16 (2024)

Huawei says that this new 16-inch model is more portable, thanks to its shedding some weight so that it comes in at 1.68kg (if you choose the smaller capacity battery) and 17mm thick. The MateBook D 16 (2024) model with the 70Wh battery weighs 1.72kg. The 2022 model we used in our Hands-on test weighed 1.7kg so we’ll leave that decision up to you.

Using thin bezels gives a screen-to-body ratio of up to 90% meaning you’ll never run out of viewing space. Plus, to make collaboration easier, the MateBook D 16 features a new 180° hinge, allowing it to lay completely flat on any surface.

The MateBook D 16 comes powered by a 13th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD for storage. The notebook uses Intel UHD Graphics to get the display’s 16:10 aspect ratio and 300 nits of brightness going.

The keyboard of the MateBook D 16 has a 1.5mm key travel and soft-landing design so users can type for long periods without getting tired. The keyboard surface can accommodate a full-sized numeric keypad.

A 720P HD camera is paired with dual microphones and several AI video conferencing tools like AI background, FollowCam, Sight Correction, AI Sound, and AI Camera to help make online calls seamless.

According to Huawei, the MateBook D 16 features Huawei’s Dual Shark Fin Fan technology to help enhance performance efficiency. This works by having a twin-blade cooling system to optimise heat dissipation, ensuring smooth operation even when tackling large-scale projects.

As is common in Huawei notebooks these days, the MateBook D 16 also comes with Huawei’s Super Device and Metaline for seamless connection to other Huawei devices and a more stable wireless connection.
