ASUS today announced the release of the VivoBook S14, a 14-inch laptop with the latest quad-core Intel 8th-generation processors and a tantalizing price.
The new notebook is also fairly slim and lightweight, so you can easily take it with you while on the road.
Here’s an overview of its specifications:
- 14-inch 1,920 x 1,080-pixel display
- Intel Core i7-8550U (1.8GHz, 8MB L3 cache)
- 8GB LPDDR3 1,866MHz RAM
- 512GB M.2 SATA SSD
- 39Wh battery
- 328 x 226.5 x 14.8mm
- 1.2kg

It’s essentially a smaller version of the VivoBook Pro 15 and S15 that were announced at Computex 2015, all of which share the same focus on performance and affordability.
The above configuration will cost you S$1,598, but there’s also an even more affordable model with a Core i5-8250U (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 cache) processor and a smaller 256GB SSD. That retails at just S$1,298, but the Core i5 chip is still a nice step up over the previous generation’s dual-core design.
As far as the specifications go, they’re super competitive for the price they’re going at.
This isn’t intended to be a premium device however, so you don’t get much of the ZenBook series’ design flourishes. Still, ASUS has made an effort to slim down the bezels, and it says the VivoBook S14 actually fits a 14-inch display on a chassis more akin to a 13.3-inch laptop.
The notebook also features a fingerprint sensor on its track pad, so you can log in using Windows Hello's biometric authentication.
Finally, the laptop comes with one USB 3.1 (Gen 1) Type-C port, one USB 3.1 (Gen 1) Type-A port, and a third USB 2.0 port, in addition to a micro HDMI output and microSD card reader.
It’s available to buy now in Icicle Gold from all ASUS Brand Stores and authorized retailers.
