Apple's October 23 Event Promises New Products and Spec Upgrades

Apple's October 23rd event is expected to reveal the much talked about 7-inch iPad Mini, followed by the 13-inch Macbook Pro with Retina display. And as if that wasn't enough, there's also speculation that the event will feature redesigned iMacs and updated Mac Minis.

Apple is holding an event on the 23rd of October, and the company is expected to reveal a 7-inch version of the iPad, widely referred to as the iPad Mini. According to USA Today, analysts have predicted that the device will retail for about US$299, and will compete in a space currently occupied by Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire.

By not having a 7-inch model, "Apple is ceding 20% of the market to competitors" says Gene Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray.

And of course, the fun won't end there. According to 9 to 5 Mac, Apple is also expected to reveal the existence of a 13-inch Macbook Pro with Retina display. The device is likely to be thinner, lighter, and priced above non-Retina display 13-ich Macbook Pros.

Also slated to make an appearance is a thinner iMac with a curved rear design that resembles a teardrop. According to Mac Rumors, only the smaller 21-inch model will feature this new form factor for now.

And lastly, we've got BGR telling us that the Mac Mini will be updated with new specifications, including having its USB 2.0 ports bumped up to USB 3.0.
