The escalating trade tensions between U.S and China has prompted Apple supplier Pegatron to accelerate its plan to manufacture products outside of China.
DigiTimes claims that Pegatron will start assembling iPad and MacBook devices in Indonesia with local manufacturer PT Sat Nusapersada as early as next month. The CEO of PT Sat Nusapersad did not reveal the name of the client it would be working for, but shared that the products would be shipped to the U.S.
Taking into account that Pegatron recently established a partnership with PT Sat Nusapersad, it is very likely that the orders are from Apple. Pegatron is also said to have invested US$300 million in refurbishing two plants in Indonesia.
