Apple might unveil a low-cost 13-inch Retina MacBook in June

This could be the end for the MacBook Air lineup.

Contrary to earlier reports of a more affordable MacBook Air arriving in Q2, Apple is said to be releasing a lower-cost 13-inch Retina MacBook.

According to DigiTimes, the entry-level MacBook is slated for a launch in Q2 with a price tag similar or slightly higher than the current MacBook Air. Shipments for the new MacBook are expected to reach around four million units.

LG Display will be supplying the 13-inch panels next month with the MacBook entering mass production at the end of May or beginning of June. If this report turns out to be true, Apple is likely to end the MacBook Air lineup in favor of the new, low-cost 13-inch MacBook.

Sources in the upstream supply chain also reiterate that the iPad lineup will be refreshed; a new, more affordable 9.7-inch iPad will be released in Q2 while new iPad Pros will be launched in the second half of the year.
