If you've been following our Mac announcements, you'll notice that the new iMac, Mac mini, and MacBook Pros all come with at least 16GB of memory.
Happily, this applies to the MacBook Air too. All M2 and M3 MacBook Airs will now get at least 16GB of memory as standard and at no extra cost.
This is fantastic news because it used to cost S$300 to upgrade from 8GB to 16GB and it was a source of headache for many buyers. So much so that I wrote a memory upgrade guide.
It's tempting to think Apple has suddenly become charitable, but the more likely explanation for this is because AI models tend to consume more memory. And while 8GB might have been fine for running macOS alone, having Apple Intelligence on top of it is likely going to require more memory.
Still, I doubt many people will be complaining about this move. Unless if they only recently bought a MacBook Air.
You can find the MacBook Air on Lazada, Shopee, and the Apple Online Store.
