Apple Faced with Temporary Closure in Italy

Apple was previously fined in December last year by Italian authorities for misleading consumers. And that same issue is back again to haunt the Cupertino company with the impending threat of another fine and a 30-day closure of its Italian businesses.

Italian market regulator, AGCM, exerts pressure on Apple

Apple got into trouble with Italian authorities last December for encouraging customers to pay for its AppleCare extended warranty even though customers were entitled to two years of free assistance according to Italian laws. Italian market regulator, AGCM, took the Cupertino company to court, which resulted in a 900,000€ fine for the company. Even though Apple appealed against the decision, it lost the case.

And right now that same issue is back to haunt the company. AGCM has deemed that Apple is still in violation of its antitrust order and is still misleading consumers. The  Italian market regulator has issued a warning, and failure to comply will not only cost the MacBook manufacturer another 300,000€ fine, but also a 30-day closure of its Italian business.
