AMD Trinity Powered "Ultrathin" Notebooks to Cost US$500
It looks like AMD isn't going to sit quietly by as Intel steps up their plans to conquer the ultra-thin-and-light segment of the notebook market. AMD will be introducing what they call "Ultrathins" (a US$500 direct response to Intel's Ultrabooks) which run on AMD's Trinity processor chips.

For the past few months, we've been seeing Ultrabook after Ultrabook. And this year's CES introduced to us even more exciting Ultrabook form factors which will feature the upcoming Ivy Bridge processor.
However, AMD won't be sitting idly by and let Intel corner the ultra-portable notebook segment. AMD is set to introduce what they're calling "UIltrathins", which obviously draws inspiration from Ultrabooks, but will cost much less -- about US$500.
According to Ars Technica, the Ultrathins will feature AMD's new Trinity processors, which come in either the ultra-low-voltage 17W varieties or the standard 35W varieties. These chips will feature second generation Bulldozer core CPUs (Piledriver), and Southern Island architecture GPUs seen on the AMD Radeon HD 7000 series.
According to Ars Technica, AMD hasn't disclosed when these chips (and hence the Ultrathins) will be available, but have indicated that more information will be disclosed in February, during their financial analyst meeting.
