Alienware's graphics amplifier lets you add a desktop graphics card to an Alienware 13 laptop

If you're not satisfied with the power available from mobile GPUs, Alienware has a solution. The Alienware Graphics Amplifier is a small peripheral that accepts almost any desktop GPU and connects it to an Alienware 13 notebook, delivering desktop-grade power to your portable gaming machine.

Essentially, the Graphics Amplifier is a PCIe x4 slot in a box, with an integrated 460-watt PSU. It will accept any single full-length, dual-width PCIe x 16 graphics requiring up to 375 watts of power. The box also has four powered USB 3.0 ports, so you can connect your keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals into the box. The only catch is, it will only work with the Alienware 13 notebook, which is the only laptop equipped with the required proprietary connector. 

The idea behind the Graphics Amplifier is that you can have a portable gaming machine to take with you on the road, powered by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M gGPU, and a desktop-equivalent gaming experience with whichever video card you choose when you're at home.

The Graphics Amplifier will retail for USD$299.
