Acer introduces new Nitro and Swift notebooks powered by AMD Ryzen 7000 processors

As part of their CES 2023 announcements, Acer today unveiled two new Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 gaming notebooks and a new Swift Go 14 notebook powered by new AMD Ryzen 7000 Series mobile processors.

Acer Nitro 16 and Nitro 17

The 16-inch Nitro 16 (AN16-41) gaming notebook features a WUXGA or WQXGA display with a 165 Hz refresh rate, 16:10 aspect ratio, and 5% more screen area than its previous model thanks to a slimmer bezel design. Besides the AMD Ryzen 7000 series mobile processor, it also comes with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series Laptop GPUs, and supports NVIDIA Advanced Optimus which lets players switch between integrated graphics (to help conserve battery life) and discrete graphics (to enjoy your games in all their glory).

The Nitro 17 (AN17-41) also houses the latest AMD mobile CPUs paired with NVIDIA's latest mobile GPUs within its slim form factor, but has a larger screen to boot. The 17.3-inch display comes in either an FHD display with 144Hz or 165Hz refresh rates or a QHD with a 165Hz refresh rate, and a 16:9 aspect ratio, supported by an 81% screen-to-body ratio for stunning visuals.

Both Acer Nitro devices can be configured with up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of M.2 PCIe Gen 4 storage so gamers and content creators can do more. They feature dual fans, four fan outlets strategically placed at the sides and rear, upper air intake, and are further supported by liquid metal thermal grease to improve cooling. These are also integrated with NitroSense software and a NitroSense key, so users can monitor their systems’ temperatures and easily manage the devices’ performance settings.

Players can fully immerse themselves in-game and while streaming with the laptops’ HD camera, two microphones, and two speakers with DTS:X Ultra for clear audio and spatial surround to improve your movie and show watching experiences.

In terms of connectivity options, they come with an HDMI 2.1 port, a microSD card reader, USB 2.0, USB 4, a Type C USB3.2 Gen 2 DisplayPort supporting USB PD (Power Delivery), and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, with one that allows for offline charging. That's plentiful of ports. Each model comes with LAN E2600G and is Wi-Fi 6E-enabled, providing greater bandwidth and faster connectivity for wired and wireless connections.

Finally, in a boost to their gaming credentials, both laptops also include one month of Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass, providing access to hundreds of high-quality PC games.

The new thin and light Acer Swift Go 14

The new Acer Swift Go 14 (SFG14-42) features a lightweight design with a thin 14.9mm aluminium chassis with ultra-slim side bezels and weighing less than 1.3kg. It combines the latest AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors, up to 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD and up to 16GB LPDDR5 memory for all storage needs, and a 16:10 aspect ratio OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. This is largely similar to the Intel-based 13th Gen Core H-processor edition we covered earlier.

The Swift Go 14’s 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with 2,880 x 1,800 pixels resolution is capable of 500-nit peak brightness, and battery power to keep it going for up to 9.5 hours. To support the hardware, Acer’s TwinAir dual-fan cooling system, dual D6 copper heat pipes, and an air-inlet keyboard help keep temperatures cool.

In terms of connectivity, it includes USB Type-C, an HDMI 2.1, and a MicroSD card reader. The 1440p webcam comes with Acer’s Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR), paired with Acer PurifiedView and PurifiedVoice technology with AI noise reduction and the reliable Wi-Fi 6E, keeps the laptop connected for better streaming and video conferencing experience.
