The MacBook Air will be among four upcoming Apple products that is rumoured to be switching to OLED displays over the next three years.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims Apple plans to update the 2028 MacBook Air with an OLED screen as part of a broader shift across its iPad and MacBook lineup. The other three products expected to adopt OLED screens include the iPad mini, MacBook Pro, and iPad Air.

The current MacBook Air (M4) features a Liquid Retina display with a maximum brightness of 500 nits. Switching to OLED would bring several enhancements, including higher brightness, deeper blacks, greater contrast, and better power efficiency.

Gurman’s earlier reports indicate that the OLED iPad mini could arrive next year, while the OLED MacBook Pro might come in the second half of 2026 or early 2027. A forecast by Omdia suggests that the iPad Air will follow in 2028.
