White motherboards are still something of a rarity, so we’re always excited when we see one. The ASUS TUF Sabertooth Z170 S boasts an arctic camouflage design on its PCB and heatsinks, merging the hallmark reliability of the Sabertooth series with a striking all-white design.

This isn’t the first time that ASUS has released an arctic camouflage board though. But unlike the Sabertooth Z97 Mark S, the Sabertooth Z170 S has stenciled the camouflage pattern directly onto the board’s PCB.

And while it doesn’t feature the same full-body Thermal Armor as the Sabertooth Z170 Mark I – the better to show off its unique PCB – the Sabertooth Z170 S features the same temperature and system management utilities like TUF ICe, Thermal Radar 2, and TUF Detective 2. There are also the same military-grade TUF components and it is backed by a 5-year warranty as well.

In addition to electrostatic discharge guards for all the USB sockets and rear I/O connectors, the Sabertooth Z170 S also has hardware-level networking protection that protects the LAN port from current surges and ensures a more stable connection.

One other unique feature is the row of white Q-LED indicator lights on the PCH heatsink, with individual indicators corresponding to things like the CPU, DRAM, and the graphics card. They are intended to keep the user informed of vital boot actions – yet another aspect of the Sabertooth boards’ focus on user control, stability, and reliability.

The ASUS Sabertooth Z170 S will be available locally on March 1 at S$399. We’ll also be taking a closer look at the board in a separate article, so stay tuned for that.
