TSMC to start 2nm chip production in 2023
Construction of the 2nm plant will begin in early 2022.

TSMC just announced its plans for a 2nm plant.
According to Nikkei Asia, TSMC received final approval from the Environmental Review Committee to build its 2nm plant in Hsinchu. Construction of the 2nm plant will begin in early 2022 and TSMC aims to install production equipment by 2023. The 2nm plant is expected to use 98,000 tons of water every day, which is about 50% of TSMC's total daily water consumption last year.
The news came one day after Intel unveiled its plan to regain market leadership by 2025 with five new generations of process node technologies.
