Samsung Reveals its Exynos 5 Dual, a CortexA15 Dual-Core SoC
Samsung has revealed its new dual-core mobile application processor known as the Exynos 5 Dual. This new system-on-chip (SoC) features a pair of Cortex-A15 CPUs with a Mali T-604 graphics processing unit. Read on to uncover its full specifications.
Samsung has revealed its new dual-core mobile application processor known as the Exynos 5 Dual. This new system-on-chip (SoC), with a clock speed of up to 1.7GHz, features a pair of Cortex-A15 CPUs with a Mali-T604 graphics processing unit, which was recently submitted for OpenCL 1.1 full profile conformance.

Samsung states that the Exynos 5 Dual is designed for high-end tablets as the SoC utilizes 32nm High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) low-power process technology to reduce power consumption. Coupled with the new quad-core ARM Mali-T604 that has support for OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0/Halti, OpenVG 1.1 and OpenCL 1.1 full profile, a system feature the new SoC is capable of supporting Wide Quad XGA (WQXGA) 3D video outputs, of high frame rates up to 60fps. The new Exynos 5 Dual supports USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps with its onboard controllers, so as to ensure speedy file transfers.
It is not known which product will feature the Exynos 5 Dual; however, according to Android Authority, the SoC may make its debut in the new Galaxy Tab 11.6 later this year. Do stay tune for more updates as we watch this space with bated breath.
