NVIDIA unveils the new GeForce GTX Titan X graphics card

In a surprise announcement at this year’s Game Developers Conference, NVIDIA revealed the new GeForce GTX Titan X graphics card. Read on to uncover how the card made its unscheduled appearance.

In a surprise announcement at this year’s Game Developers Conference, NVIDIA unveiled the new GeForce GTX Titan X 12GB graphics card. The card’s clandestine appearance was actually slipstreamed into Epic founder and CEO Tim Sweeney’s conference address. At one of Epic’s briefing session, CEO Sweeney talked about the need for a more powerful GPU to meet the compute requirements of photorealism visualization.

And on cue, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang appeared to reveal the new GeForce GTX Titan X that was hidden under his jacket. According to Hothardware, he was coy about its exact specifications; however, the card is based on the Maxwell GPU. Like its predecessor, the elusive GeForce GTX Titan Z, the new Titan X features 12GB of GDDR5 memory. The new GPU boasts of 8 billion transistors, about a billion more than the Titan Z. We are sure more details about the new flagship card will be shared at the upcoming NVIDIA GTC 2015, so do stay tuned!
