NVIDIA has pulled its 364.47 drivers after reports that it can cause issues like blacked out or corrupted screens. An updated beta driver has since been submitted to Microsoft for WHQL certification.

Gamers will have to wait a little while longer for a WHQL-certified driver with optimizations for The Division.

NVIDIA’s drivers are usually unproblematic, but as it turns out, nobody is immune to the occasional glitch. According to the latest reports out of the grapevine, the GeForce driver 364.47 can cause issues like blacked out or corrupted screens, leading NVIDIA to scrap the update entirely.

But while some reports appeared to refer to serious problems like boot failures and even burnt out cards, NVIDIA said that it hasn’t seen any reports of damaged video cards. That’s definitely a relief, although the faulty drivers will probably still be a source of considerable annoyance for users.

In a post on its knowledgebase directly addressing the issue, NVIDIA said that the initial investigation appeared to suggest that the issue was related to selecting the “Express” installation option (instead of going the “Custom” route).

The company has since replaced driver version 364.47 with 364.51, a new beta driver. The latter has been submitted to Microsoft for WHQL approval, and NVIDIA will update the driver package online as soon as it is certified.

So if you’ve yet to update your driver with the latest optimizations for The Division, you may want to wait till the Microsoft-certified release is out.
