NVIDIA officially announces the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, available May 24

In addition to the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, the company is also launching a non-Ti version of the RTX 4060.

NVIDIA has announced the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, the successor to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. The RTX 4060 Ti will be available in two models: one with 8GB of memory, which will retail for US$399, and one with 16GB of memory, which will retail for US$499. Both models will use the Ada Lovelace graphical architecture and support the third-generation of Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) upscaling technology. Unsurprisingly, NVIDIA is marketing the RTX 4060 Ti as a high-FPS 1080p gaming card.

The RTX 4060 Ti is the second graphics card in the RTX 40 series to be announced with two different memory configurations. Last year, the company announced two versions of the RTX 4080, one with 12GB of memory and one with 16GB of memory. However, NVIDIA eventually "unlaunched" the 12GB RTX 4080, explaining that the GPU was "not named right" and that "having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing".

At a media briefing for the RTX 4060 cards, NVIDIA notes that in a Steam survey, 77 per cent of gamers play at a resolution of 1080p or less. As such, the RTX 4060 Ti is well-positioned to appeal to a large number of gamers. The card is also expected to offer significant performance improvements over the RTX 3060 Ti.

In addition to the RTX 4060 Ti, Nvidia also announced the GeForce RTX 4060, which will retail for US$299. The RTX 4060 is expected to offer even better value for money than the RTX 4060 Ti.

These are the launch timelines for the respective SKUs:-

  • GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB - May 24th (US time)
  • GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB - Available in July
  • GeForce RTX 4060 - Available in July
