NVIDIA Issues Response to Torvalds' Complaints over Linux Graphics Support

At a recent Q & A session to an audience at the Aalto Center for Entrepreneurship in Otaniemi, Finland, Linus Torvalds who is the brain child behind the Linux kernel project, complained harshly about the lack of Linux support from NVIDIA. NVIDIA has issued their diplomatic response to his outburst.

Mr. Torvald was asked about his opinion on NIVIDIA's lack of support for the NVIDIA Optimus GPU and he said, "NVIDIA has been one of the worst trouble spots we've had with hardware manufacturers. And that's really sad because NVIDIA tries to sell a lot of chips into the Android market. And NVIDIA has been the single worst company we've ever dealt with."

NVIDIA has responded with a diplomatic response and stated that they are committed to the Linux community. They understood about the lack of support for the Optimus notebook GPU solutions, which itself was the catalyst of Torvalds' outburst during the Q & A session. NVIDIA also stated why they made their decision to use only proprietary drivers for Linux so as to provide users with a common user experience throughout all their GPU products.
